"Spooky or NOT, What Do Your Laws Say?"
Westminster, CO - It is that time of the year, again, when "things that go bump in the night", and the "howling of a dog or Wolf", the shadows in the night seem to come alive and the smell of burning leaves and pumpkins fill the air, FALL has arrived and so has Halloween!!
When I opened my email, this morning, I received my "Daily eNews" email from the RE/MAX Alliance group! Within that email was one article that seemed appropriate based on the time of the year and the continued issue on whether to disclose a ghost or a "known" haunting of a home!
I find this an interesting topic, especially, when every State has their own set of laws (rules) as to the disclosure requirement to the potential Home Buyers! As well as, the disclosure or NOT for the Home Sellers!
Of course, we all should abide to the laws and rules as established by our own State and Real Estate Commissions!!
Take our State for example, Colorado. We DO NOT disclose this information, for if doing so, we are in violation of Laws that protect the Home Seller! It has been determined that such items as, ghosts and hauntings would stigmatize the property and HARM the Seller's home values!
So, with that being said!! What are your thoughts and what does your State require!
